The Just Read call to action: Let kids read what they love to read every day so they can become free readers for life. |
What is Just Read? |
Just Read is a free reading initiative designed to empower and inspire students to become free readers for life. It is a research-based, voluntary daily free reading component of the school day independent of any instructional or incentive program.

What is free reading? |
Free reading is a stress free time when students can read whatever they choose regardless of reading level, subject, genre, or format. Free reading is free of any teacher assignments such as tests, quizzes, notetaking, or reports. Free reading is free of any extrinsic incentives such as points or prizes.
|
What is a free reader? |
A free reader not only has the skills to read, but continuously seeks to read more widely and deeply. Free readers not only succeed academically, but also are more likely to be empathetic and innovative. Free readers are more likely to think logically and recognize misinformation.
|
